The King’s Cross Group, owner and asset manager of the 67-acre King’s Cross estate in London, has renewed its strategic partnership with North London Foundation Trust (NLFT) to acquire part of the St Pancras Hospital site in Camden.
The partnership and renewed acquisition agreement mark an important first step in The King’s Cross Group’s growth beyond the King’s Cross estate, expanding its role as a long-term steward of the area and a creator of places that deliver lasting community benefit.
This shows an enduring commitment to futureproof the St Pancras Hospital site as a leading healthcare campus, upgrading vital facilities that will remain in place alongside the new Oriel Eye Hospital, which will benefit residents and staff.
The partnership demonstrates how the NHS can work together with the private sector to unlock investment opportunities which deliver modern healthcare services and facilities for the public. NLFT will retain the South Wing of the hospital, ensuring that valuable healthcare services remain in place and continue to offer local access for service users and patients.
The King’s Cross Group will work with NLFT over the coming months to bring forward updated proposals that aim to unlock the full potential of the St Pancras Hospital site for the local community. These proposals include much-needed new homes, public spaces for wider enjoyment and employment opportunities, including jobs in healthcare and construction. Engagement on these new proposals with stakeholders and the community will commence in the new year.

Leo Shapland, CEO of The King’s Cross Group, said: “This agreement signals our renewed investment at the St Pancras Hospital site and in the wider King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter. St Pancras Hospital represents a key site in Camden for high-quality, local health services, alongside other lasting benefits for the community. Our partnership with North London Foundation Trust provides an exciting opportunity for us to shape another of London’s exciting regeneration projects, working closely with Camden Council and other key stakeholders.
“In the months ahead, we will share updated plans that build on this renewed partnership with NLFT and we look forward to engaging with the community and other decision makers to unlock the potential of this important site for generations to come.”
Jinjer Kandola MBE, Chief Executive of North London NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This agreement marks an important next step for the St Pancras Hospital site. The programme has already allowed us to transform NHS mental health facilities in North London at Lowther Road Holloway, and in Highgate. Our agreement with The King’s Cross Group will unlock further investment funding.
"We are looking forward to continuing our presence on the St Pancras Hospital site, which is set to become a welcoming, health-oriented space for everyone in the area to enjoy."
With the nearby King’s Cross development now nearing completion, The King’s Cross Group has taken over management of the estate from Related Argent. This evolution creates a future-focused business dedicated to unlocking the estate’s long-term potential.
Related Argent will continue as the development manager on the St Pancras Hospital scheme.
